- Despite the efforts of the military-backed government to widen its crackdown on the supporters of ousted President Mohammad Morsi, the Anti-Coup Alliance, led by the Muslim Brotherhood, has held several demonstrations across Egypt.
Morsi supporters held scattered demonstration across the country in the first Friday following Eid Vacations. Protestors are demanding the release and the reinstatement of Morsi as president.
In a statement released by the Anti Coup alliance, the group responsible for organizing Pro Morsi demonstrations, said they will be avoiding Tahrir Square to avoid bloodshed after previous attempts to hold demonstrations there left scores dead after clashes broke out with Security forces.
Morsi supporters have been holding regular protests against the army and the interim government it supports since July 3rd, but the scale of protests have decreased since the brutal break up of the Pro Morsi encampments in Cairo which left hundreds dead.
